We figured learning how to build a wind generator was our best option to make power for our off grid home.

We found a great deal of outstanding wind generator plans too.

Our choice was a hard one. We could either diversify our Renewable Energy System, a choice amongst hydro power from our little stream or put up a wind generator. We also had the option to just buy more solar panels. We decisive to learn how to build a wind generator and here is why – You may want to build your own too.

There are times of the year when even a hundred solar panels and 10 times our present battery storage would not run our home. In the fall and winter the sun may not shine for weeks at a time. Thus, no power is formulated from the solar panels, no matter how galore we would have. We in truth wanted to smooth out the wrinkles in our charging cycle as well as invent more power for our home, that meant adding more solar panels just wouldn’t work for us.

Hydro power is in all probability the most cost effective option if you have sufficient running water with an adequate drop to develop power. Water power will create 24/7, but we had a problem with this option. From November until April our stream freezes solid and in order to manufacture power we need running water. Unless we could figure out a way to run ice through the hydro turbine that is.

That left us with the wind generator option. A quick assessment of our web site told us we had wind energy potential. Open space and a web site that was free of impediments for over 300 yards. We would only need a 40 foot tower to get up to the good wind.

So, we started buying goods for a wind generator. The wind unquestionably went out of our sales, so to speak, when we started looking at the price of new and employed wind turbines.

During our search for a wind power turbine a friend of ours suggested why not build one. He had done just that lately with a good deal of plans he had downloaded from a internetlocation called Homemade Wind Generator. We took a look at the nice occupation he had done on his wind generator and decisive to download our own plans.

We learned how to one that cost us less than $100, including the little cost of the plans (still beneath $20), but equated to the price in the thousands for a new or employed wind generator to meet our needs it was a real bargain. The plans were simple and easy to follow and provided origins for all of the material we would need. Isn’t it time you built your own.

Once we knew where to look, the DC motor used for a generator was speedily located, as well as the free PVC pipe we employed for the blades. Our family is rather happy learning how to build it and It gives rise to with regards to 1000 watts of power at 24 volts. We have plans to build one for the front yard next.

Isn’t it time you started now, let’s get started,

It actually is not that difficult of a project, and just think of the amount of cash you will save on that skyrocketing electric bill. Renewable energy is the way to go today.

5I am very pleased
By KenJ
Have had this flexible solar panel for just a few days so far. This panel has grommets along the edges for easy mounting, I used rubber tarp straps to mount this to a 100 gallon cylindrical fuel tank. It charges the deep cycle battery that runs the pump that was already in place. I used to put the battery on a charger every night the pump was used, with the solar charge is not necessary, is virtually maintenance free now. I bought a square framed panel first, did not take long to figure out this was going to be a nightmare getting a square panel mounted to a round tank. With this flex style do not have to worry about rocks and gravel kicking up on the panel either. This is a perfect solution, looks to be well made, hopefully I will get many years of use out of it too.
Here is my blog about the project.

4Good, lighter weight than my other panels
By Rodster
I have only had this one for about a month, and it works well to keep the battery on my boat charged. It is lighter and thinner than the others I have bought at the same power level.

While it is flexible, it is not as flexible as the Amazon write up makes it look. Not a big problem, but it affects how you can mount it.

Good value for money.

4Solar Panel tech much improved over “Old School” solar panels. . . .
By CTBren
I got a HQRP 30W Flexible Solar Panel Power 30 Watt 12V Mono-crystalline PV Module for my boat to replace an ancient 11 watt Flx-11 solar panel that is no longer made. The HQRP 30 Watt panel is roughly 16 X 34 inches. The old 11 watt panel was 30 inches by 16 inches. 19 more watts, in 4 inches more length, shows a LOT more watt density than in Ye Olden Dayes! It sits on a Bimini Top on my sailboat, so I had to round off the sharp corners on the aluminum sheet substrate with some tin-snips. It’s been installed for three weeks now and even with all the rain plaguing the Southeastern U.S. lately, STILL keeps my Group 29 battery fully float-charged into a solar array charger. The grommets were useful for tying to my Bimini Top frame.
A good buy, with good performance; what more could you ask?

Why not that (coveted) 5th star?
The web-site picture that shows the panel semi-folded is roughly 1 or 2 degrees from the point where you start damaging the printed-on crystalline structure. You are NOT going to roll that thing up to store it, but so far, that has not been an issue on my boat.

Special Kudos to Amazon:
When UPS decided NOT to deliver my package because they thought I had moved (33 years in same location, yeah, right) Amazon not only took back the returned panel, and did NOT charge me any re-stocking fees, they sent me ANOTHER panel with NO shipping charges.
Any company can take care of a customer when things are going well; the mark of a GREAT company is how well they take care of you when things are going very badly.
Thanks, Amazon!
