We figured learning how to build a wind generator was our best option to make power for our off grid home.

We found a good deal of great wind generator plans too.

Our choice was a hard one. We could either diversify our Renewable Energy System, a choice amid hydro power from our little stream or put up a wind generator. We likewise had the option to just buy more solar panels. We decisive to learn how to build a wind generator and here is why – You may want to build your own too.

There are times of the year when even a hundred solar panels and 10 times our present battery storage would not run our home. In the fall and winter the sun may not shine for weeks at a time. Thus, no power is invented from the solar panels, no matter how a heap of we would have. We actually wanted to smooth out the wrinkles in our charging cycle as well as give rise to more power for our home, that meant adding more solar panels just wouldn’t work for us.

Hydro power is in all likelihood the most cost effective option if you have sufficient running water with an adequate drop to manufacture power. Water power will give rise to 24/7, but we had a problem with this option. From November until April our stream freezes solid and in order to give rise to power we need running water. Unless we could figure out a way to run ice through the hydro turbine that is.

That left us with the wind generator option. A quick assessment of our website told us we had wind energy potential. Open space and a internet site that was free of impediments for over 300 yards. We would only need a 40 foot tower to get up to the good wind.

So, we started buying goods for a wind generator. The wind unquestionably went out of our sales, so to speak, when we started looking at the price of new and employed wind turbines.

During our search for a wind power turbine a friend of ours suggested why not build one. He had done just that not so long ago with a lot of plans he had downloaded from a internetlocation called Homemade Wind Generator. We took a look at the nice occupation he had done on his wind generator and decisive to download our own plans.

We learned how to one that cost us less than $100, including the little cost of the plans (still under $20), but equated to the price in the thousands for a new or employed wind generator to meet our needs it was a real bargain. The plans were simple and easy to follow and provided roots for all of the material we would need. Isn’t it time you built your own.

Once we knew where to look, the DC motor used for a generator was speedily located, as well as the free PVC pipe we employed for the blades. Our family is rather happy learning how to build it and It develops with regards to 1000 watts of power at 24 volts. We have plans to build one for the front yard next.

Isn’t it time you started now, let’s get started,

It in truth is not that difficult of a project, and just think of the amount of cash you will save on that skyrocketing electric bill. Renewable energy is the way to go today.

5Takes a beating
By C. Tripp
This baby charges up the 8 volt battery in my 1949 international tractor
parked out in the orchard quite well. I even ran over it with an empty trailer, and left it out in the rain! I can use large metal spring clamps to hang it anywhere to catch the afternoon sun. Haven’t tried it camping yet.

5Saved Us in the Forest
By Joey Rush
I often go Gold & Gemstone hunting and use quite a bit of 12volt equipment, including a forgotten 12v cooler plugged into the dash. Upon leaving the car for a day to prospect a small stream, the cooler drained our battery dead. We returned with only about 2 hours of daylight left, found the battery dead and I immediately removed the charger from my backpack and began charging the battery with direct sunlight. As the sun was setting we “tried it” and there was just enough charge to start us up and we drove the 12 miles out of the forest instead of having to walk it out for help.
Not only does the product work, but it has changed the way I think about solar energy. Needless to say, since it saved us that day in the forest, I am rating this product with 5 stars.

5Excellent
By Thankful
I bought one of these about three years ago. I put it on the dashboard of my pickup to keep the battery charged, as the truck did a lot of sitting in the driveway. It worked fine for at least a year. Actually I don’t know how long it worked. One day, just on a lark, I put a multimeter on it to see if it was still working, and found that it wasn’t putting out 12 volts. After almost two years since I bought it, I sent it back to Sunforce (in Canada) and they sent me a brand new one! I’ve since had the new one installed in the truck for over a year. Just checked it yesterday and it’s still cranking out the volts. I have it wired directly to the battery, as my Toyota pickup cigar lighter outlet isn’t active unless the ignition is on.

I am buying another one for backpacking to run a AA battery charger and keep GPS battery charged. Because it’s so lightweight, it should be very good for this purpose.

Nice of them to send me another one after nearly two years!
When I got the first one I checked to see if it would run a small AM/FM/SW radio without batteries. It did, with no problems.
Good buy.
